1. What is Babysitterdirectory. How do you differ from a childcare agency?

Babysitterdirectory provides a FREE introductory service for parents and babysitters and nannies across Australia. We are not a childcare agency, we do NOT accept booking fees and we do NOT screen babysitters or nannies. We simply introduce parents to babysitters and nannies that you otherwise might not meet and the rest is to to you, It's simple! Whether you are looking for occassional weekend babysitting, regular afterschool care or a live in nanny, we aim for Babysitterdirectory to become your first port of call.

2. Do you screen babysitters or nannies?

No. We do not screen babysitters or nannies. Babysitterdirectory is a place where parents can meet babysitter or nannies. This means we DO NOT check babysitters or nannies references, qualifications or certifications. If you are a parent and want to contact a babysitter or nanny who is screened then this is NOT the site for you. You are best going to a childcare agency in your local area ( check the Yellow Pages ) and asking them to locate a carer for you. However if you are prepared to screen carers, for example check references and qualifications and permits then this is the site for you.

3. Where do the babysitters and nannies come from?

Babysitters and nannies come from across Australia that includes rural and metropolitan areas. Babysitters and nannies hear about Babysitterdirectory through advertising we place in a variety of places - local newspapers, national job boards etc.

4. How many babysitters / nannies should I initally contact?

Typically expect to contact 5 to 6 babysitters or nannies. From this you can expect to get a response from 1 to 2 carers. If you do not get a response then just wait a few days and search again. New babysitters and nannies are registering every day. You can also sign up for a Profile Alert, alerting you when a babysitter or nanny places a profile on the site that matches your requirements.

5. If I cannot see a profile of a babysitter or nanny that suits me can I post a Job Ad?

Yes. If you do not see the profile of a babysitter or nanny that suits you simply register with the site or login and you can post a Job Ad for free. The Job Ad posting allows you to specifiy the details of the babysitter or nanny you require. You can log in at any time and edit or delete your Job Ad. Best of all Job Ads are FREE,

6. Do you charge a fee to babysitter or nannies to use Babysitterdirectory?

No. Babysitterdirectory does not charge babysitters or nannies to place their profiles on the site. We simply ask that you pass on the details of the site to friends and colleagues you believe maybe interested.

7. Why do you ask me for contact and personal details when registering?

When you are registering on the site we ask you to provide your contact details. This allows us to provide you with an improved services and to assist Parents, babysitters and nannies to search for and find each other. We may also hold information for client and business relationship management and for marketing purposes.

8. Why should I use the personal messaging system to contact another user?

Babysitterdirectory strives to make your expereince of the site as safe and as enjoyable as possible. That is why we provide you with a personal messaging system. It means that you do not need to give a user your personal contact details until you feel comfortable doing so. To use the personal messaging system you simply need to login to the site using your username and password to view your messages.

9. I am a babysitter and want to post my profile on the site what do I do?

If you are a babysitter or nanny and would like parents to contact you about caring positions they may have available simply register with the site and post your profile for FREE.

10. What is the babysitter or nannies "profile"?

A babysitters or nannies 'Profile" is similiar to their resume on Babysitterdirectory. It provides information to parents about the postcode the carer lives in, years of expereince, ages of children the carer is comfortable in caring for, qualifications etc. The section "Brief statement about yourself" is a free text field where the carer can share a little about themselves, who they are and what they are interested in. (NOTE: Babysitters and Nannies: please do not enter your address or home phone number into this section. Only reveal these details to another user when you feel comfortable).
