Profiles on Babysitterdirectory: Is it okay for my friend and I to share the one profile?

Your profile on Babysitterdirectory is rather like your resume. It informs parents about who you are, your interests, skills and desire to work with perhaps their children. Parents can then read your profile and contact you for more information.

You probably would never consider submitting a joint resume shared with your friend for a position in a store or office. Therefore the same applies for your profile on Babysitterdirectory.

Submitting a joint profile on the site does not do either you or your friend justice. It does not allow you or your friend to convey your specific skills, interests and experience.

If you and your friend are interested in a job share arrangement - this is where  two or more people occupy a single job with each person working on a part-time basis and being paid pro-rata for the number of hours they work in the job - then you can state this in your profile by saying:

Both my friend X and I are interested in presenting ourselves for a nanny position as a job share arrangement. X is also listed on Babysitterdirectory. If you are interested in this arrangement we would be happy to hear from you".

The important point to remember is if you and your friend are presenting yourself as a job share arrangement to a parent, this parent is a prospective employer. As such they will want to be sure that both you and your friend meet their needs and have the necessary skills, experience and qualifications to care for their child(ren).  Individual profiles are the best way of gauging this.
