| First Aid training for babysitters and nannies |
|
First aid training for babysitters and nannies is not only encouraged in Australia, it is also vital for your career development as a childcare worker.
You are much more likely to get employment from parents if you can show that your first aid certifications are up to date. It shows that you are serious about your role as a nanny or babysitter.
With the growing incidence of allergies in Australan children particularily peanut (now at about 1 in 50 children) and tree nut allergies the likelehood of finding yourself being asked to care for a child with an allergy even perhaps an anaphylaxis one one day is not uncommon.
More importantly no one wants to be in a situation of caring for someone elses child, having an incident happen for example the child choking on a small object and not knowing what to do from a first aid perspective.
You might want to consider asking your next family / employer if they will assist you in paying for your first aid course qualifications.
Remember get your first aid qualifications and when you have them keep them up to date.
On this site at the moment you can find information on First Aid courses run by the Australian Red Cross, but there are many other agencies that run these courses and we will be listing these in time.
